Rolf’s goal as a counsellor is to help meet your needs, nurture your courage and strengths, and help find as well as embrace your truth and space in this world. As his clients will tell you, Rolf is kind, supportive, generous, compassionate, and open-minded. He will stand next to you, shoulder to shoulder, without judgment, in your darkest moments, always there for you with each step through your healing process.
Early in Rolf’s life he read a Viktor Frankl quote that had a profound impact on his own life’s journey… “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms-to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.” It has shaped his ability as a counsellor to hold a safe and healing space for those who have faced the most traumatic experiences, to ease suffering.
This purpose came early to Rolf. Raised in a family that took in countless foster children, Rolf lost his childhood innocence at an early age as he witnessed firsthand the pain and anguish of abused children. He also experienced the discrimination of others towards his primarily first nations and metis foster brothers and sisters. During this time, he saw clearly that if you cannot change a situation, you can change yourself.
An adventurous spirit and consummate explorer, Rolf is continually adding to his therapeutic toolbox with the latest in psychotherapy and neurotherapy techniques. Rolf completed his Masters degrees at Antioch University, Los Angeles, California, and University of Santa Monica, Santa Monica, California, in Clinical and Spiritual Psychology, respectively.
Rolf is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #3648), with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors, and Board Certified Master Practitioner in NLP, Time Therapy, and Clinical Hypnotherapy. He is also a registered member of EMDR International Association (EMDRIA), EMDR Canada, AEDP Institute (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy), and Association of Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback.
